LET US HELP YOU BACK ACTIVE….
Provide maintenance and support, to help prevent recurrence of the problem
What to Expect
Consultation
A chiropractors first concern is to find out what is wrong. On your first visit the chiropractor will fully discuss your complaint, gathering as much information as possible about the pain, how the complaint was brought on and about your past health history.
Examination
You will be asked for your permission to the physical examination. You may be asked to remove some clothes, a private changing area and gowns are provided. (If you areuncomfortable with this you should tell the chiropractor). The chiropractor will examine the problematic area concentrating on the musculoskeletal system. Sometimes it may be necessary to gather more information, such as requesting results from previous tests or sending you for x-rays or MRI scans.
CHIROPRACTORS AIM TO
Diagnose the underlying cause of the problem
Alleviate pain and improve movement by restoring normal function and activity
NOT A CURE….
Report of findings
There is no instant cure and after the first treatment you may experience pain and soreness in the areas been treated.
Before treatment starts, the chiropractor will explain the examination findings, diagnosis and outline the course of treatment. You will be asked if you wish to proceed with treatment. You may also be told about any exercises or changes to lifestyle that may be beneficial. If Chiropractic care is not seen as appropriate the chiropractor will endeavour to refer you to the appropriate specialist whether it be Neurological, Orthopaedic, Rheumatological, or GP.
The number of visits required to achieve a good response to treatment will depend on the severity of the complaint, how long you have had the complaint, the patients age, general health and how well given advice is followed.
Treatment
Treatment mainly involves safe, gentle specific adjustments done by hand, often achieved by a short thrust to the joint. Chiropractors may also use ice, heat, soft tissue techniques and exercises.
